I use them when my neighbours sit out on their patio half the night and talk... they are not noisy enough for me to have a reason for asking them to be quiet, but my bedroom window is just above their patio, and I do not sleep with windows shut, especially not in the summer. Therefore, it is my choice to either move my bedroom to another room in the flat (which I won't do) or use earplus. They are not very comfortable, but if I have the choice of no sleep at all or sleep with a little discomfort, I go for the earplugs.Librarianhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05704656564078750607noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1949425054295660529.post-35906153643136498942012-05-26T01:31:26.837+02:002012-05-26T01:31:26.837+02:00It does seem unnecessary to stifle the bells becau...It does seem unnecessary to stifle the bells because someone decides that they can't cope which is a reflection of their inadequacy rather than a true nuisance. Thank you for enlightening my ignorance. When we're in France we hear the village church bell chime the Angelus morning, noon and night, which in the past, as Jane and Lance say, would have been the signal to start and stop work, including for the mid-day meal.Perpetuahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01214396019726161983noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1949425054295660529.post-74129903877050297192012-05-23T22:55:36.272+02:002012-05-23T22:55:36.272+02:00Mr Pickles looks so delightful! All the more I can not understand how in that village it seems impossible to install a mechanism or device that allows the bells to be stopped for the night. It is possible here (no chiming between 11.00 pm and 7.00 am), so why not there?Librarianhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05704656564078750607noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1949425054295660529.post-51793306144586524562012-05-23T10:57:21.195+02:002012-05-23T10:57:21.195+02:00Hello Meike:

We rather like the idea and, also, are keen on bells being rung too.

When we visit our friends in the country in Hungary, the local church bells are rung at morning and night at the same times each day for rousing the workers and indicating the time to down tools for the day. Sadly, however, the bells are not rung by human hands!!!Jane and Lance Hattatthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16831890261259302647noreply@blogger.com
