In this case the census was taken before her 8th birthday. I also thought it was interesting that her tombstone says she was from London, when she was actually from Blackheath. In genealogy we use all the available records to put the person into perspective. Birth or marriage records are more considered more reliable than death records. Folks seem to get more sentimental over the death records. I've found that people tend to be most truthful for the census taker, probably because the government impressed them with their seriousness!
