Can't deal with it, and this gets worse the older I get.Librarianhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05704656564078750607noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1949425054295660529.post-73027297322037115702013-04-15T06:33:09.690+02:002013-04-15T06:33:09.690+02:00They did it in style, Graham, and survived! By that time, they were also aware of the importance of certain foods to avoid scurvy; some of them still got it on that voyage, though.Librarianhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05704656564078750607noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1949425054295660529.post-88058484516492931982013-04-15T02:27:47.315+02:002013-04-15T02:27:47.315+02:00Wow, it kind of puts the traveling most of us do t...Wow, it kind of puts the traveling most of us do to shame, doesn't it? It's interesting to speculate what drove these men, who must have known there was a very good chance they might never make it home again. I'm not sure I'd be brave enough to set out to deliberately face such incredible odds. xoxox Canadian Chickadeehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12995693884248628958noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1949425054295660529.post-87875232614977612562013-04-14T22:14:01.017+02:002013-04-14T22:14:01.017+02:00Whilst I've read little about Arctic or Antarc...Whilst I've read little about Arctic or Antarctic exploration per se I am always aware when reading about navel history of the Nelson era (my favourite historical subject) of the massive difference between conditions then and now. When it comes to preparing for the cold, for example, Sir Edmund Hillary'e era (the 1950s!) climbed Everest in tweed jackets. Franklin's achievements were truly amazing.GBhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10289400344300258872noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1949425054295660529.post-10274858936114558002013-04-14T16:38:25.383+02:002013-04-14T16:38:25.383+02:00Funny that someone else would write a book with ex...Funny that someone else would write a book with exactly the same title, Kay!
Yes, while I was doing research for my review, I thought of you and that you'd probably find it interesting, too :-)Librarianhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05704656564078750607noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1949425054295660529.post-42696293074319641242013-04-14T16:37:20.168+02:002013-04-14T16:37:20.168+02:00Thanks, Karen :-)Thanks, Karen :-)Librarianhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05704656564078750607noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1949425054295660529.post-20929774272029653532013-04-14T15:05:46.923+02:002013-04-14T15:05:46.923+02:00Oh my goodness, you know this is my kind of book!
