Just Very Quickly...

...an update on what spring looks like here at the moment:

The view from my kitchen window has changed since last time, hasn't it!

We went directly from padded winter coats to t-shirts, from lined boots to sandals: 23 Celsius yesterday, and I am sure it was more in the direct sunlight when there was no wind. [That's the pair of trousers I got for my birthday. You knew I couldn't resist showing you the complete outfit, didn't you!]

Look at the branch of my cherry tree - I can almost watch the buds growing, and in maybe another two weeks or so, there will be a fluffy white cloud of cherry blossoms in front of my window.

There probably won't be any night frost any more (until next winter, that is), so I have dared on Saturday to put out the potted forgetmenot that I was given for my birthday.

Yes, spring is finally here, and winter's hold on us broken for good!

  1. Ah, Spring . . . we're still waiting for it in New England! We keep getting teased with a good day here and there!!! Beautiful view!

    Love your outfit!

    1. Thank you, Mary! I got the t-shirt from another Mary :-) (my mother-in-law)
We've waited so long for spring; everything in the gardens and on the fields is about 4 weeks behind...

  2. Good for you :) Not quite as drastic here yet. But we are getting some rain... Which is good since it's been so very dry.

    1. Drastic is the right word, Monica. I have heard several people reporting headaches yesterday, partly from not yet being used to being out in the sun, partly from the quick rise in temperature. Thankfully, I can simply enjoy this wonderful weather without any aches!

  3. Delightful 'springy' outfit to go with the delightful crocii (think the spillchucker prefers crocuses) and forgetmenot. I do love spring. It's a shame in a way that I always miss most of it these days.

    1. If it's as late in Lewis as it is here, Graham, you might catch it this year!

    2. Monica is right, Graham!
Spring is lovely, and feels even more precious now after we have been waiting for it for so long.

  4. I love your new outfit. You're a breath of spring yourself in that! And here in northeast Ohio spring is coming. Not as dramatically as in Ludwigsburg, but it is coming and I awaken to birdsong most days and sunshine, too. Daffodils and Forsythia color the world. Yellow everywhere.

    1. Yes, the world has suddenly gone from monochrome to brightly coloured! Even on a less sunny day than today, the yellow daffodils, forsythia and pastel primroses make everything look so much nicer.

    1. It's been beautiful today; I've just returned from a run across the fields - in t-shirt and knee-length running pants!

  6. Lovely photos! I like your spotty trousers. We have signs of spring here finally too. I do not think our nighttime frosts are over for another month and we still must wear coats but at least it is starting to arrive. Enjoy your beautiful weather!

  8. Congratulations on spring having sprung. I saw it on the German news and you may consider me very jealous. Mind you, I can’t wait for it to get so hot in Germany that I wouldn’t be able to stand it. Then I’ll be glad again I live in this cold, damp country where it never really gets warm.

    1. It's been lovely again today, Friko - my sister and I have gone to have our first proper ice cream of the year, sitting out on the pavement. By the end of the week, we're to expect rain and quite a drop in temperature. I hope that takes care of your jealousy :-)

  9. You look SO summery! lovely to see all these shots, and even more lovely to look out of my own windows and see a cherrytree at the front and one at the back, both in full blossom. I'm so glad Spring arrived at last

    1. "My" cherry tree is now in full blossom as well, and I have been taking several pictures of it, some of which will hopefully make it to my blog soon :-)
I'm so very glad about spring finally being here, too!
