Some New Things

For Christmas 2010, my sister gave me a toaster you can see here. It has been much appreciated and much used, but, sadly, it stopped functioning a few weeks ago.
Especially for our extended breakfasts when RJ is here on weekends, I do need a toaster, but also for myself every now and then, and so there was but one thing: get a new one now, not wait half a year until Christmas comes round again.

I found this one - it was the last of its kind at the shop, and as it had been the display item, I got it at a slightly reduced price:

Doesn't it go very well with my other breakfast things, such as the cereal bowls (another present from my sis)?

Sometimes it happens to me that I come across an item at the shops at a time when I am actually not looking for anything, but the item clearly has "Meike" written all over it. Could be a dress, a pair of shoes, or - as it was the case the other day - a bag:

Of course I don't go to bed with a bag, but it matches the colour of my bedroom wall so well that I decided to take its picture there, this kind of light blue being my second favourite colour after yellow. The bag has the right size for an A4 file to fit in perfectly, and so it is very useful for work. It goes very well with one of my suits shown here, and I hope it will last for a long time - it wasn't expensive (not real leather) but doesn't look as cheap as it was ;-)

Oh, and just to show you how well the pair of trousers I got for my birthday goes with my new toaster, here's a "fashion shot" that makes it obvious to anyone that I am nuts about dots:

I wore this outfit last Sunday for the Horse Market parade. But - you guessed it - that will be the stuff for another (or several other!) post(s) :-)
Oh, and you can tell from my choice of outfit that Sunday really was a SUNday, true to its name!

    1. Thank you :-) Didn't know this type of pants/trousers is called slacks. I've come across the word many times in books, but never imagined them to look like this.

    2. In North America, I think the word "slacks" is just another word for pants, or capris (which are a bit shorter) or clam diggers (shorter still, but not yet shorts)...I'm not sure what they are in Europe, but I've always considered trousers to be more tailored and dressier than slacks -- more like the ones men wear as part of a suit. But whatever you call them, I love your red polka dot pants/slacks/capris! They are so CUTE and so are you!! xoxox

  2. Oh, never seen a spotty toaster before. I love it! our toaster is looking very boring apart from the fact it doesn't even toast well...

Are you going to carry your toaster around with you, to prove how it matches your outfit? :) :)

    Nice fun post!

    1. Good idea, Jenny, I really should do that ;-) People might then wonder about me a bit, but who cares!

  6. Polka dots are so cheerful! I do love them, also gingham, though not for clothes especially. I'm thinking of farmhouse tablecloths here. You look terrific in those slacks!

    1. Thank you, Kristi! I, too, love gingham - also for clothes. I have a green-white gingham blouse that looks very crisp with a pair of white denims (or navy ones), and a pink-white gingham dress that I have sometimes worn for the garden.

  7. I do love that polka-dotted toaster. And you look good in polka dots yourself!

Now, I also love that blue bag that you posed on your bed!
That color!!! Would you believe that is very close to the color that they used to paint the railings on the Eastbourne pier, but now they paint them a dark blue. I mentioned in a comment on that post that I miss that blue color, and here, I see it on your post! Funny how that happens sometimes!!

    1. Kay, I had no idea the railings on Eastbourne pier used to be done in my favourite colour. Shame they stopped doing that :-)
Maybe today is a day for the blue bag again, I have not decided yet what to wear (it is 7.35 in the morning as I am typing this).

  9. Hi, Miss Polkadot, I think your choices are great fun. Who needs to be serious at all times?

I’ve just read The Beauty. Oh my! (actually, I am embarrassed that it now sits on my ipad and kindle.

    1. Hi Friko, exactly! Being serious at all times would be way too exhausting and boring.

Well, there's always the "delete" button...

  10. I love all your dots! I'm nuts for polkadots too! Your outfit is adorable! You look very tall in those capri pants, you remind me of my niece, she has legs that look like they are 6 feet long, especially when she puts on her high-heels?

Thank you for stopping by my blog, I'm glad you enjoyed my garden tour of my tiny tour!

    1. You are welcome, Mary; your seaside garden really is so beautiful!

Thank you! I'm not particularly tall, just one or two inches above average, I guess (5'8" when I last looked).

  11. I notice that I'm the only male commenter on this post! (I'm sure CJ would have done so too if he had been feeling better) which is why I'm not really into polka dot toasters in my kitchen nor do I really suit polka dot clothes. Although I do sometimes wear a polka dot handkerchief in my top pocket on the (now rare) occasions that I wear a jacket. They are, however, very 'you' Meike.

    1. Oh! You wear handkerchiefs in the top pocket of your jacket! I should have known :-)
Indeed you would look a bit odd in a pair of polka dot trousers...
