DeleteWhat charming Christmas lights, and a wonderful sky! it's been incredibly grey and damp here although Christmas day itself was really beautiful and sunny. I hope you and your loved ones had a wonderful Christmas and will have a happy and prosperous 2020, Meike.

Merry Christmas Meike. It still amazes me that I can click on "you," all the way in Germany, and read your posts and comment like friends from across so many miles. Hope you have a wonderful New Year.

DeleteI must say you do Christmas so well over there. I suppose we have Prince Albert to thank for a lot of our own traditions. And since he imported them from his native land, they form the template for our own. Only they. of course (as they would), seem more authentic to me than some of our own tacky offerings. I hope you have a wonderful 2020. Perhaps, as time and income allow, I may pass by your way again in my not-so-splendid van on some further European Odyssey. As long, that is, as we are allowed over the Channel without having insurmountable obstacles of paperwork to complete.
ReplyDeleteWe did break with one of our own traditions this year: For the first time in 54 years, our tree was without real candles... safety concerns due to my Dad's increased difficulties with mobility were the reason. But apart from that, our Christmas was as beautiful as ever.
DeleteWhen you and K. pass my way again in 2020, let me know if you need a German citizen to vouch for your good character or some such requirement!
