Horse Market - Part II

As I said in my next-to-last past before this one, I took so many pictures at the Horse Market parade that I probably won't be showing them all, and certainly not all in one post. Instead, I have decided to divide them into topics. The first topic was Horses.

This morning, reading Weaver's post about how her husband had to take a decision regarding their vegetable garden, I thought why not use Tractors as my next topic. Therefore, this post is in honour of all those hard-working farmers and their families out there, and in particular, for Pat and her husband.

The Horse Market parade always features a collection of old tractors, and maybe you have seen some of them on my blog before:

What would you like to see next from the Horse Market parade? History, fashion, or people?

  1. More tractors and more heavy horses please. You can't post too many of these.

    1. I'm afraid I've run out of both, Adrian. These were really all the tractors I took pictures of, and only maybe one or two more were in the parade.
As for heavy horses, they seem not to be as popular as they deserve to be, and the group I showed were the only ones of their kind.

  2. When we go to Suffolk (yes, mentioning it yet again) I am always struck by the number of tractor magazines and events. It's a rural county but it's made me notice tractors a bit more. I have never been to the tractor museum there though- my interest in them doesn't extend that far! :) I like tractor No. 4 in your photos. And I am happy to see whatever you choose to post but perhaps HIstory has the edge, slightly.

    1. Tractors are not my reason for going to watch the parade, either, but they are part of it and justly so, I think :-)
I like the cheerful man on the last tractor. That's the spirit!
History will definitely feature in one of my next posts.

  3. Oh, how I wish my Dad could see these tractors, he would love them!
And in answer to your question, couldn't we have all three, maybe one post at a time the way you have been doing? I want it all, don't I? :-)

    1. Don't worry, Kay, you'll get them all - fashion, people and history, but each in a separate post :-)
You could always print out the photos and show your Dad next time you go see him.

  4. What fun that they are all so different. We there any road engines? I mean steam driven vehicles?

    1. No steam driven vehicles there, Kristi. The tractors formed only a very small part of the parade, as it really was mainly about horses and carriages and the people in their traditional and historical costumes.

  5. Well despite my travels on the mainland of Europe over the last 50 years I don't recall seeing any tractors quite like those (and unlike many of your readers I suspect) I actually find tractors fascinating. The penultimate one in particular is very unusual. As for the order of your next topics I'm quite with any order.

    1. True, the one with the loading tray in front is unusual, I can't remember having seen anything similar, either.
I generally find machines and devices fascinating - actually, anything that requires engineering skills (such as bridges and other structures), but motors least of all.

  6. I haven't been around much, but have just had a very nice catch up on your posts. The photos of the horses and tractors took me back to our days in Gereonsweiler and the towns and villages surrounding. We lived amongst farms and fields and our son's first words after Mama and Dada were 'traktor' and 'anhanger'.

Thank you for taking the time to catch up on my posts, I'm glad you enjoyed it!

    1. Wait until you see more from the parade, Shilpa! By the way, welcome to my blog - I think this is your first visit here?
