Last of Our Spa Break

Of the 1 hour computer time I have set myself for today, 27 minutes are over and were spent with reading and replying to emails. The rest should be plenty for another blog post - I finally want to show you the rest of our Spa Break back in March.

Good Friday, the 30th of March, was our last day. We had a sumptuous breakfast and then took advantage of the beautiful sunny morning (unlike the other days of our stay here) for some photos of our surroundings.

View from our balcony
Church and vicarage seen from the breakfast terrace
Spa area seen from the breakfast terrace
Hotel entrance - this one is for Kay :-)

After checking out of the hotel, we went back to a place where we had been two days before with zero visibility. The panormaic pictures were taken by O.K. and I have his permission to show them here. You can see the Alps in the distance, and Lake Constance.

We then drove to nearby Ilmensee, a small town by a lake that must be very popular in summer for rowing boats, swimming, sunbathing and walking opportunities.

Last stop on the way home was Birnau at Lake Constance. By then, the sky had begun to cloud over, but the spot near the church (a famous place for pilgrims) made for good views.

We arrived back home well in time for dinner at my parents'. That week had been a very nice and relaxing break, and we were now ready for Easter.

  1. I think you had a delightful spa break to recover from your wonderful birthday. And then on to Easter!

    1. It was indeed delightful, and the Easter weekend was nice, too.

  2. I am so pleased to learn that you are gradually recovering from your eye operation. You have been very brave and patient too. I chuckled when you described the other women on your little ward as sounding like "a group of overweight truck drivers"! I wonder what your own snoring sounds like - perhaps a purring cat!

    1. According to well-informed circles my snoring can sound a bit like grunting... not the nicest thing to know about oneself, but I can't do much about it when I am asleep!
I am seeing my eye doctor today. She will tell me whether progress is as expected or not, and when I'll be allowed to resume my normal activities.

  3. One of the beauties of blogging (apart from the communication aspects) is that the author can go back and look and read about times they have had. I am constantly surprised by thoughts I have expressed but which obviously expressed how I felt at that time. And so it goes with posts about places I have visited. They usually bring back wonderful memories (not all of which appeared in the post!).

I do hope that your eye news is good.

    1. Thank you, Graham, eye news is indeed good. My doctor is happy with the progress and tells me I can still expect improvement for the next half year, or even up to a year - all I need is patience...!
I am now officially allowed about 1 hour computer time per day, but reading is still strictly limited to "if it is important". Well, it actually IS important, just not the way my doctor meant. Therefore, I am not yet going to start catching up on other blogs but rely on folks commenting here for communication.

Sometimes I re-read my own old posts, too, and think "wow! Did I write that?" :-)

  4. I'm glad you had some good weather, even if it didn't last long. It really looks the most delightful and relaxing place.

    1. It is a great place when one needs a break, and I am pretty sure it won't have been our last stay there.

  5. So happy to read your response to Graham Edwards! May you just continue to have more and more improvement.

    1. Thank you, Kristi! I did in fact have the impression of a slight improvement last night as I was looking at the clock above the telly. It is a circle, and it looked like a circle, not like a dented egg!

  6. You are right, I do love the hearts displayed like that at the hotel entrance!
Ah, those photos of the lake with the Alps in the distance, just gorgeous!

    1. We love such views - mountains and lakes, and wide open spaces. As soon as I saw those hearts, I knew I wanted to take a picture of them for you :-)

    1. Hello Greg, this is your first comment on my blog, I believe - welcome! And let me guess; your favourite word is "amazing" :-)
It was only a short break, but it is indeed an amazing place.
