September Holiday: 27.09.2021

Monday, the 27th of September, started off beautifully with sun and a low, misty cloud in the valley, as seen from our hotel room:

Originally, that day had shown up on the weather forecast as the worst day of the entire week. As we were, after all, at a spa hotel, I had therefore chosen that day to book massages for both of us and a pedicure and facial for myself; if the weather is not walking-friendly, we don't mind spending good part of the day at the hotel spa.

It turned out to be much nicer than expected, and so after our spa morning and coffees & cake at the hotel, we went for a circuit path on the other side of our valley. Part of that path we had already been on previously, but we'd not done the circuit as intended, and so we came through a few bits that we didn't know yet.

All in all, it was the most restful day of our holiday. The next day was going to be our last full day here, and we were hoping for another day of good walking weather.

  1. I'm always fascinated by being on higher land above the clouds.

  2. Your holiday was really spectacular! Bet you came home tired - but it was sure worth it for those views!

    1. The drive home was in heavy traffic and tiring, but not in the good way a long walk or mountain hike is.
Yes, those views are always worth the effort!

  3. I enjoy your posts because they tell me about another world, another life, one I can see and imagine.
Your photos are the wine that goes with the feast, and these pictures are exceptional.

I can breath in all that fresh air, and I can smell the good German coffee afterwards.

    1. I like that comparison, photos like wine that accompany a meal. Thank you!

  4. This has been such a wonderful holiday for you both! A spa day sounds like the cherry on top after all the hiking you have done!

    1. It was great to be able to go on that holiday, even though I'd already been off work for six weeks in the summer because of my eye ops.
The spa day was not quite as good as we imagined, but good enough.

  5. I like the light and the fact that the clouds were hanging above the valley floor. A good restful day on holiday is always needed otherwise one returns possibly mentally and physically less refreshed that when one started out.

    1. The light was beautiful most days, as it so often is in September and October. And even more so up there in the clean mountain air.
We always organise our holidays in a manner that also allows us a quiet day or two at home before work starts again.
