September Holiday: Zurich Day 1 Last Part

My last post was getting way too long, and I still have some pictures from that first day in Zurich that I want to show you.
After our tour of the city, the sun decided to come out properly, and we walked along the lake. Lake Zurich has the city come right up and there are high mountains (the Swiss Alps) close by, making for a fantastic backdrop, as you will see. Thankfully, the city planners have left enough green for people to enjoy walking, cycling and running along the shore, and we really enjoyed our leisurely stroll.

This house - formerly a private house, now a museum - reminded me very much of a lot of the buildings in Harrogate:

Look at the sky now! What a difference to the morning... This is the Opera House. On the square in front of it, we had an ApĂ©rol Spritz each. I'm afraid it was not very good, though, and definitely the most expensive one I've ever had - but that's Zurich for you. It  still was a good way to end our first day there.

The angel is for you, Mum:

More tomorrow!

  1. Thanks for taking me and the rest of your regular visitors on an unexpected trip to Zurich. Some great pictures. It's nice that you have apparently retired from work and can now holiday all the time.

    1. It certainly feels like that when you look at my blog, doesn't it! But it is now in fact work straight through until Christmas.

  3. It all looks delightful. I've been in Zurich but really a long time ago. I enjoy seeing where you've been, Meike....Too bad you will not have any vacations until after Christmas!

    1. I've had plenty of holidays already, so it's not too bad - and there are still going to be a few public holidays here in Germany over the next two months. Also, I can relax very well at weekends, and so I am not worried :-)

  4. I agree about the house looking like one from Harrogate. I am really impressed with what you have shown. I've thoroughly enjoyed it too.
