Almost There!

Just a very quick one this morning, as I am due to appear at the eye clinic in Stuttgart for my second operation in about an hour. It is my right eye's turn now, and I hope to be back home before lunch time, more or less like four weeks ago.

My sister will drive me there and back, and make sure I have all I need. Much of yesterday, I spent getting everything ready here, so that for the next few days I won't have to think about cleaning or shopping but can just rest and stick to my medication plan which will mean using two or three different kinds of eye drops every 1 1/2 or 2 hours. It almost feels like routine the second time around!

Hopefully, in a few days I will be able to read your blogs and comment, and write my own about the beautiful walks we've been on last weekend.

For now, I shall leave you with this view of O.K.'s village, taken during a brief walk the weekend before last. Brief because the weather was so unsettled, we didn't venture far but were ready to turn back as soon as the heavy rain clouds reached us.

    1. I am sure Superwoman has 150 % vision - I am still going to come out at around -2,5 diopters, but that's tons better than what I had before.

    1. Thank you, Jennifer! By the time your comment came through, I was in bed (from about 1:00 pm to 6:00 pm), only getting up to administer my drops, drink some water and go to the bathroom.

  11. Meike, we were just watching news coverage of the floods in Germany. I'm sure you're safe, but I hope your friends and family are too!

    1. It is horrific in some areas with almost 100 confirmed dead so far and many still missing. Thankfully, not in my immediate area, and none of my friends and relatives are directly affected, as far as I know.
Can‘t imagine what it must be like for those poor folks who have lost everything. If only this catastrophe would lead to sensible measures in terms of building permissions and nature protection - and not just by one nation, but across borders.

    2. Gregg kept asking me, "Have you talked to your friend? Is she okay?" :) I'm glad you are.

    3. Gregg is so kind, thank you! *waves hi to Gregg*
But then I would not expect you to be with a husband who was unkind, of course :-)

  12. I'm so glad to read that the operation is over and to see that you've been responding to comments. Stay safe. I'm thankful you are not on the other side of the country. It's all quite beyond terrible.

    1. Thank you, Graham. We are indeed lucky in that we live far enough from any rivers that have the potential to cause flooding. Marbach is a different story, but as far as I know, the river Neckar has not been affected.

  13. Bless you and healing wishes for your eye! Just like everyone, I am horrified at the images from Germany and Belgium. There are people here who very firmly doubt and voice their disbelief about climate change. How can they? The evidence is in from all over the world. Meike, I can't get on my email just now but I received your package yesterday. So beautiful! Please know it arrived on a day that I most needed something positive. Thank you.

    1. Dear Kay, thank you for letting me know about the package - that was amazingly quick! Hopefully you were not charged extra, but if you did, please let me know so that I can send a refund.
Most of our media are full of news, reports and analyses about the floods. The death toll has risen to about 120 now, I believe. It is tragic and horrible but I am selfishly thankful that my family and friends are all safe.

  14. I keep thinking of you and wondering if you are safe and escaping the terrible floods. Now that it is some days since you put a post on I am more worried than ever. Can you please let us know that you are safe and well.

    1. Dear Pat, thank you for asking! See my replies to the other comments here - there has been no flooding in my area, and none of my family and friends are affected.
I have had my 2nd eye operation less than a week ago and can not spend much time at the computer yet, which explains the lack of posts :-)
