The third day in a row following a similar pattern, Wednesday started again with rain but promised a dry rest of the day with a mix of clouds and some sun, ever changing with the strong wind that kept blowing.
O.K. drove us to a village called Rieden, half an hour from Münstermaifeld. One of the suggested hikes from the booklet provided by our hosts started there from the parking lot by a small, idyllic lake.
We greatly enjoyed the 15 km hike, through woodland just starting to turn from late summer to early autumn, past large pastures with cattle grazing, up on a transmission tower with a viewing platform open to the public, and back to the lake.
Amazingly, all along the circuit (which was once again well signposted) we met just one other couple of walkers - no cyclists, no families with children, no dog walkers.
Admittedly, the uphill bits challenged me so that I had to stop for breath a couple of times and at one point felt a little woozy, but a short rest, drink of water and snack made all good again, and I really enjoyed the entire day, full of peace and beauty.
Please note - the pictures are in reverse order. I am blogging from my ipad where I find it all less comfortable than at a proper computer with a full keyboard, so I am not going to try and faff with it.

Abandoned old viewing tower, a lost place I would have loved to explore! |

What a beautiful walk that was! And so nice of you to stop and trim those trees in such a perfect heart shape just for me! I wonder if others see that like we do? Really like the idea of not meeting hardly anyone else, the peace of that sounds ideal.
ReplyDeleteWhen it comes to heart shapes, O.K. rarely sees them same as I do, but Imdon‘t mind - I know you will see the heart just as I do!
DeleteIt was wonderful to have the time and space all to ourselves, a rare enough thing.
