O.K. and I left Limpach on Thursday (14 May 2026) after one last sumptuous and delicious breakfast. We really had enjoyed our time here, and I am certain that our third stay at this hotel wasn't the last.

It was cold and windy, with rain and sun alternating on the drive home, which was trouble-free and took us the expected 2 1/2 hours.

After unpacking and loading the washing machine, we rested for a bit until it was time to pick up the food we'd ordered online at the nearby Indian restaurant. We took it to my Mum's and enjoyed a "welcome back" meal together.
Friday (15 May) was similarly cold, windy and a mix of rain and sunny spells. O.K. and I went into town for some errands and in the afternoon would have liked a nap, but it was very noisy in and around the house with people (not just children) trampling up and down the stairs, banging doors and talking/shouting/laughing loudly. Oh well, you can't avoid hearing your neighbours when you're in a semi with 7 flats altogether.
For the evening, I had booked a table for the two of us at a vegan restaurant in town. We've walked past there many times and I always wanted to try it. The food was very good, the service friendly and familiar (everyone is on first-name terms the moment they come in), and we enjoyed the evening. |

It was still cold and windy on Saturday (16 May) at only 6C/42F in the morning, but sunny with no rain forecast. O.K. left around lunch time for home, and I pottered about a bit before I walked to Benningen late afternoon as part of my settling back in routine.

My cousin and his wife were coming to visit my Mum on Sunday (17 May) on their way home (they live in Paris) after having visited his mother (my aunt) in Germany. It is always lovely to see them, and starting mid-afternoon with coffee and cake at my Mum's followed by dinner at a diner not far from my place we spent a pleasant time with them - a nice ending for my 2 weeks and 2 days off.

There are occasionally times when it's nice to be deaf. I'd take my hearing aids out and not be able to hear the noisy neighbours! Welcome home after your (life-changing) adventures. I hope you can settle back into your rhythm now, though I guess there must be a subtle shift in your sense of self after your marriage, even though you and OK have a well-established and comfortable (or so it sounds) routine. Your vegan restaurant sounds good. There's a small café near here where my friend and I had lunch this week: buckwheat pancakes with avocado, flavoured with sumac (a new spice for me). It was delicious.

OK sending you a rainbow and a field of wildflowers on his phone, that's perfect! Happy that you are safely home and that all went well with your wedding and honeymoon. Look forward to more adventures from you and OK! He seems as talented a photographer as my husband!

DeleteIt sounds like a perfect honeymoon. Are you going too continue living separately or moving somewhere between where you both currently live so you can both commute to work when you have to?

DeleteMoving somewhere in between would mean neither of us has any connection to the new place; it is not something we plan. Also, it would still mean a long trip to work for O.K. every day; I can work from home (although it is good to be at the office at least once or twice a week). No, we plan on moving in together at one of our places (not sure yet which it is going to be) eventually, but most likely not while we're still both working full time.
That was a very pleasant return home. I love the rainbow, and the poppies.

ReplyDeleteDuring Eat Out To Help Out in the second year of the pandemic, I had a dinner of
scallops in a wonderful pink sauce with black pudding or blutwurst.
The same meal again in Ludwigsburg would be a treat. Wonderful palace !

My late brother-in-law was refusing to eat there. He liked his steaks very rare.
Yet he enjoyed his vegan lunch so much he went back the next day with my sister.

We're in the middle of a heatwave right now, too, but the post describes the days from May 14 to 17, not the current week - I am a bit behind with blogging (as usual).
DeleteA meal with Blutwurst in it would send me running - along with any type of intestines (liver, kidneys and so on) or seafood such as squid, crabs or shrimp, it is something I don't want to eat and thankfully, don't have to.
Nice that your late brother-in-law overcame his prejudice against vegan food.

What people wear and fashion in general mean little to me but may I say that your wedding dress really looked lovely - so elegant, so pretty. It was an excellent choice.
And I like the sound of your simple ceremony with only your nearest and dearest present. Furthermore, it sounds as though Limpach was the perfect place for a sweet and peaceful honeymoon.
Thanks to OK for letting you share a picture of the two of you together on your wedding day. I have often wondered about his appearance and may I say that he is a dashingly handsome devil. Even so he is very lucky to have won the heart of one of the nicest people in the blogosphere!

The dress is a vintage Laura Ashley one that I've had for a long time but worn only once many years ago. A "classic" that does not go out of fashion quickly, and I found the flower print very fitting for this time of year.
Our wedding and the five days in Limpach were just how we had wanted it to be. And I agree that O.K. is very handsome! We are both lucky in having found each other.
