Monday Evening Walk

When I arrived at the hotel where I was going to stay all of last week on Sunday night a week ago, it was too late to go for a walk, but it was not too late on the Monday, after a day of lessons.
I walked along the same path I had been on before; the first picture here is of the same area (just from a different angle) as the first "walk" picture in this post, so you can see what a difference those few weeks since the end of March made.

This time, I also tried some different paths where I had not walked before, and came across this very friendly cat. I sat with it for a while on the sun-warmed stone steps, and it purred loudly and didn't want to let me go.

It turned out to be the warmest and sunniest day of that week, and I was glad I'd been out for about two hours before going back to my hotel room, where I took my big fat ring binder and went over the day's lessons for another hour or so.

  1. Hello Meike:

This all looks to be so very attractive and how nice to have found such open spaces just a short distance from the hotel where you were staying. The cat looks to be lovely and we can so well imagine the two of you on the stone steps basking in the warm evening sun.

Disappointingly we seem here to be having day after day of rain and it is scarcely warm at all.

    1. Temperatures dropped considerably over the last weekend; I need my padded coat again in the mornings and even wear a scarf while waiting on the windy platform for my train to work.

The area around the hotel is less than halfway built up, there are big empty spaces between each building, which makes for a quiet neighbourhood at night.

  3. I would enjoy walking here! I can "hear" the cat's purring in my head, just like my sweet Jax's.

    1. It was so nice, and for a moment, I was thinking of having a cat myself again. But it would be very unfair to the cat if I took one in now, I am away quite a lot.

  4. Isn't it encouraging to see all that green? And the flowering carrot~ or maybe its Queen Anne's Lace, very feathery and pretty whatever you call it. It looks so lush there. We've got a drought here, and its serious.
I just filled the birdbath with a quart of water carried out from the kitchen. Looks like no shortage of rain there what with that cloud cover. How nice of it to break up and let all that golden light shine through~

    1. The months of March and April were very dry and warm, many were worried about their gardens and fields. But May has certainly been making up for that lack of rain so far!
It is very refreshing for the mind to be out in all that green, I find.

  7. Well it certainly looks greener and one jacket warmer that six weeks previously (though, of course, it can be difficult to judge temperature in equally sunny photographs).

    1. It was warmer at the start of the week but became cold enough later on to require my padded winter coat for the short trip across the road from hotel to class room.
