Day 3 (the 7th of September) is quickly told, as it was not a hiking day.
We had of course been checking the weather forecast daily, and already expected the Friday to be a rainy and grey day, and although it turned out to be less wet than we thought, we decided to take things slower and get on the bus to the next small town of Spiegelau, famous for glass making.
There, various well known companies have set up factory outlets and shops where you can get glassware, crockery and other things, sometimes at good prices. We had a thorough look around the shops, and I went home with four espresso cups.
We also visited the two churches and walked around the small town a little between short showers of rain. Back at the hotel, we had coffee and cake and then spent the rest of the afternoon relaxing in the spa. After dinner (which was again excellent), the sky had cleared up nicely, and we went for another little walk around our village.
The photos I took from our room are from 9:16 in the morning and 7:28 in the evening:
All in all, a more restful day - admittedly, rather welcome to regain my strength :-)
We all need the rest days. However it sounds like you made very good use of it.
ReplyDeleteWe did! And the rest made us all the more eager to get out again the next day.
DeleteAfter all that strenuous hiking I'm sure the rest was welcome!
ReplyDeleteIt was, but we were really looking forward to our next hikes.
DeleteYes, a day off from your hikes seems like it was welcome and very full of activity of the calmer sort!
ReplyDeleteIt was welcome but also made us want to get out again the next day.
