Preparations

That I changed jobs last year, starting in December to become a consultant for data protection and IT security, is old news already.
My first three weeks on the job went very well; then, there was the break for Christmas and New Year, and on Monday, both RJ and I will be back at our customer's again. We are looking forward to that, and for me, it will mean wrapping up the project I worked on all of December.

Shortly before Christmas, I went to stock up on my business clothes and brought six tops (four shirts/blouses, one jumper and one long-sleeved t-shirt) home from H&M.

They will come in very handy with my business wardrobe:

The shirts are all the same style; I bought them in white, black, light blue and pink with a white stripe.

The blue one is a perfect match with this suit, I think.

The pink-white striped shirt fits underneath my bouclé dress.

The brown light-weight jumper goes well with this suit.

And the brown-grey long-sleeved t-shirt is just right for wearing underneath my "Librarian" dress.

Well, looks like I'm all ready for Monday!
But before that, there'll be some dancing to do tonight :-)

By the way, I spent just under 80 Euros for all six pieces together... I do like H&M, I really do!

  1. All very good choices! I really like your style. Honestly though, with your slim figure you can wear anything you ever want and always look fantastic!

    1. Indeed there is; reminds me of the candy sticks one can buy at the Seaside.

  3. Very smart business-like look indeed. Even though we often have sales here in January, I tend to buy most of my clothes between late spring and early autumn because it's such a hassle going in and out of shops and trying things on in winter, with all the extra layers one is already wearing!

    1. Thank you, Monica!
I agree with you about trying things on in winter, but the good thing about H&M is that I usually do not have to try their tops and can just buy my size, confident it will fit me. This does not apply to skirts, trousers and dresses, though; I have to try these and sometimes find they look odd on me in spite of being my size.

  4. Excellent purchases and such a good deal on top! You will look extremely business-like and very good! But then you look good in anything... xoxo Silke

  5. The buying of a style one likes in a lot of colours is a really good one in my humble opinion. I thought I'd be different and although I think most of your wardrobe makes you look very smart (Bedeutung sehr klug und sehr elegant). The different bit is that your bouclé dress is not one that I'd wear. But then....... Okay I'm is a silly mood this afternoon. The sun is shining.

    1. Yes, I've done that before with things from H&M but usually in only two different colours, not four like this time.
Agreed - you'd look quite funny in my bouclé dress :-D

  6. Oh good, a fashion post...the only thing missing, what shoes will you wear, flat ballet slippers or high heels?
Hope you had fun dancing Saturday night!

    1. Thank you, Kay, we had indeed great fun at the dance on Saturday night! Never before have we spent so many hours at that venue and so much of it on the dance floor :-) (I still haven't learnt every dance and therefore, we sit at the side every now and then, having a drink and talking.)
For shoes, it is usually my standard pair of black Mary-Janes. I keep them in my locker at the office, because for getting to and from work, I need boots these days - but can't stay in boots in the warm office all day.

  7. I like all your business attire, but my favorite is the light-weight jumper (a sweater to us Yanks!). I love the color first of all and the pairing with the suit jacket is perfect. Also, I agree with buying several of something that goes well and is comfortable. You'll be very smart and professional looking. Hope all goes well with the new job and RJ.

    1. Thank you, Jill! Yes, it's a lovely soft material, that jumper/sweater, and has nice detail not visible in the picture: a row of tiny buttons on each cuff.
First day back at work today, and it'll be the light blue outfit.

  8. Very nice clothes! But I'm happy I don't need business clothes! I think I nearly always wear one of my many pairs of black trousers and some kind of top.

BTW, I don't at all like Dinner for one, either, and have had to watch it too many times.

    1. Thank you, Kristi! I like the many possibilities of changing style throughout the week; from business to the (very) casual to the sporty to the pretty dresses I usually wear for dancing.

What really surprised me many years ago, when my husband came over from England to live with me, that he had never heard of "Dinner for One". For many Germans, it is (wrongly) the epitome of Britishness, whereas in the UK, hardly anyone knows it.

  9. I like your new clothes, I just bought a blue shirt and a pink one like yours, except I couldn't find a pink stripe.
