More Snow, More Fashion

Not long ago, I couldn't help bragging about the wonderful legwarmers my Mum made for me. She has now decided to offer a pair very similar to mine (same type of wool, just different colours) on her Etsy Shop. You can reach her shop directly from here; just click on the picture(s) to the left.

Just to give you another example of an outfit with legwarmers I wore this month:

It's been everything from around 10 Celsius and sun to just below freezing point and snow these past couple of weeks. One morning a week or so ago, there was a dense fog, and it was freezing. The fog was so dense and it was so cold that the humidity formed a thin  glittery layer of frost on every surface outside. When the sun finally made it through the clouds around lunch time, it made for a beautiful view from my kitchen window:

One afternoon, some days later. This did not last long.

I'd very much like spring to begin soon, but I suppose I'll first have to get round to wearing all my wintery clothes before it'll be time to bring out the nice dresses. Never mind, there's plenty more where all this came from!

An outfit I wore to the office this week, and on two or three occasions before that. The knit fabric has a very nice, soft and warm feel to it, although this was not at all expensive and does not contain any cashmere (my favourite).

  1. Rather than being a librarian...with secrets, you should have been a model...with euros!

    1. How about being a secretive model Librarian with euros?

  2. I think we are all ready for Spring Meike. Your weather is probably colder than ours in England though.

    1. You are right, Maggie, I think we all are. 1 Celsius as I am typing this, and the sun is out!

  3. Hey!
Love the outfits on you! You know how much I love your Mom's knitting!! My goodness, the socks that I have from her are just perfect, that is the only word for them!
You know I had dress like that once, it was a creamy white and I wore it with a pair of caramel brown high heel shoes, I was much younger then!!

    1. Thank you, Kay, my Mum loves reading such comments about her knitting!
Your creamy white dress teamed with caramel brown shoes sounds very elegant.

  4. Now those outfits look both elegant and cosy. They keep telling us snow is on the way to London but I haven't seen any yet and to be honest I don't want to! I am going to loook into buying some leg warmers, by the way :)

    1. Thank you, Jenny, they certainly kept me warm on the days I was wearing them.
Good to know I am not going to remain the only one wearing leg warmers! (is spelling it "legwarmers" wrong?)

    2. Clearly, Meike, both forms are in common use. I would tend to the view that leg warmers can be anything that warms legs but that if you use legwarmers then people would tend to understand that you were talking about the leg warmers that you are pictured wearing.

    3. Thank you, Graham! It's not always easy to know what is correct, but I trust native speakers - most of the time ;-)

  5. Reading this post before I got dressed this morning, I was inspired to put on a skirt (over warm leggings) instead of my usual jeans... even though not going anywhere :) We probably had about 10 cm of snow over night - but shrinking a bit again during the day.

    1. I really like the thought of my post inspiring someone, Monica! I am sure you looked very nice in your skirt, no matter who did (or did not) see you :-)
It's been snowing for a while now this afternoon but so far does not stay on the ground. I need to go get some groceries in for the weekend now, so I better wear my padded coat with the (fake) fur-rimmed hood.

  6. You have a lovely figure and the height to wear these clothes. And, you look comfortable and happy in your own skin. I just love wearing a skirt or dress with tights and boots. Fun but warm!

    1. Thank you! I am, most of the time (comfortable in my own skin, I mean).
Yes, skirts or dresses go very well with the right boots and a good pair of tights.

  7. Those leg warmers are really a great idea for winter. We could use them here in Sicily these days, it's rather cold. We had some snow but so little that it didn't even last 5 minutes on the ground.

    1. They are really useful when you don't want to wear boots, or want to wear skinny jeans or a skirt/dress with a pair of tights. Actually, they keep you warmer than boots do!

  8. Not sure I could get away with wearing legwarmers, I just don't have your figure. Its too hot here, anyway.

    1. Both are good reasons for not wearing them, Hippo, especially the temperature.
