October Fashion

Well, not just for October, of course. But both these outfits are things I wore this month, and both were put together with new items.

The light blue jumper is very soft - almost cashmere-like - and has the potential to become a firm favourite for this season. I love this colour, and although you can't see it properly in the picture, I have a silver necklace with a light blue stone matching it perfectly. The necklace was a gift from my sister years ago for Christmas or a birthday, and I wear it every time I put on something light blue. It even features on my official profile picture for work!

The Prince-of-Wales-check trousers I found in a shop in Ripon. They are just right for work, although a bit too lightweight (and short cut) for winter.

The jumpsuit... now that is a controversial piece of my wardrobe :-) There are some who say it looks like a pyjama, while I think it looks really good! It is super-comfortable (not that my other clothes are uncomfortable) and combines the advantages of a dress (one piece, and you're dressed) and a pair of trousers (sometimes more practical than a dress or skirt).

Can you see the jewellery I am wearing with it? It's a necklace and matching bracelet made of silver "leaves", perfect for autumn (although of course leaves are around at other times of the year, too). No matter what the pyjama-sneerers say, I really like this outfit!

Official Aldi picture, nicked from their website
The jumper and jumpsuit come from Aldi, by the way. I know - cheap clothes are not seen as a good choice in ethical terms. But I still am convinced that the expensive brands have their stuff produced at the same factories and sweat shops, just with more profit for themselves on each piece.

  1. Really like both outfits. You have exactly the right frame/shape to wear these and I agree with you about the jumpsuit. Also, I love, love your shoes!

    1. Thank you, Jill! I rather like them, too. They are the highest heels I own - not very high by many ladies' standards, but high enough for me, and still comfortable enough to allow for the walking I do every day.

  2. Love your blog and especially appreciated the beautiful pictures from Bad Wimpfen since I was born and raised in that area. I have lived here in Houston, Texas for many years now. Your blog is so wonderful to read and the pictures are truly gorgeous. Thanks for sharing them all with your readers. The outfits in your latest blog entry are very pretty, everything looks elegant and beautiful. Elke

    1. Hello Elke, and welcome to my blog! How nice hearing from you as someone who knows the Bad Wimpfen area well!
Thank you for tkaing the time to comment, and your compliment about the outfits.

  3. Looks like great choice! Both make you elegant without pomp, they seem comfortable. The necklace should have been made in close up - hardly visible.
I have similar outfits from another brand, though I share your opinion concerning their production. It is just convenient to come to a store with expert staff who bring and combine things for you as you wish. In cheap stores the service is a lot different.
in break drop in to share your view on the new Nobel Literature laureate (there's Translate option on my blog).
    Have a nice week end!

    1. Thank you, Irina!
I don't mind shopping "for myself", but it is nice having the expert service of good staff every now and then.
I may drop in later today at your blog, but I honestly am not a fan of "Translate" options on the internet - the translated text can never be as good as the original.

  4. Both outfits look great on you (or you make them look great!) but I especially like the darker one.

    1. Thank you, Kristi! I really like the jumpsuit, too. The fabric is rather thin, though, so I doubt I'll have much occasion for wearing it during the coming months.

  5. Perhaps I should post my own fashion pictures - focusing on garden workwear. I'd be in muddy wellington boots with an old russet coloured fleece jacket that has paint stains all over it. Garden gloves and my trusty fork would complete this cool outfit. How do you think I should stand? Should I smile or look fearsome?

    1. You could smile, unless you never do while gardening. I don't like it when models wear stern expressions bordering on the grumpy, but I know that it is considered more "fashionable" than a genuine smile.

  6. I did not see that the second outfit was a jumpsuit, I took it to be matching trousers and top. Looking good to me :) I went in and out of some shops yesterday, but ended up with the conclusion I probably already have pretty much all I need for the winter. It's such a bother trying on clothes this time of year that it has to be something really special to tempt me! :)

    1. You are right, I don't like going into shops and trying on things when I come in wearing a winter coat, scarf and boots to begin with.
The jumpsuit was in a flat plastic bag, but I usually know I can rely on the "S" size fitting me, and wasn't wrong this time, either.

    2. Lucky you :) Seems to me I can never go by size alone, I really have to try things on to see how they fit.

  7. You look stunning in both outfits. You have a great figure and you know what suits you as well. I didn't know Aldi stocked clothes, although all the other supermarket chains we have here do so it's probably a matter of time. The jumpsuit looks fab. I've got one and I love it but...it's a pain having to strip right down every time you want to go to the loo! x

    1. It's easy to get in and out of this particular jumpsuit when I want to go to the loo, Gillian :-) It has a zip at the back which I easily reach.
Aldi's clothes (and other non-food) offers vary from week to week. Quite a lot of my stuff is from there; I also like their sports outfits and undies. The jumpsuit was designed by Jette Joop, daughter of Wolfgang Joop. Both are well known designers in Germany and have been around for many years.

    1. Thank you, Helsie! Being of such average size certainly makes finding nice outfits easy - too easy :-)))

  9. I like both outfits! And I see that Helsie above thinks that you are tall and thin! I know you are thin but you have told me that are not really that tall but you sure do look it! I am 5 feet 4 inches myself, so I like to wear a 2 inch heel when I can! :-)

    1. I am 5'7" (1 m 74 cm) tall, which is just a little above average for women in my part of the world. The heels I am wearing in these pictures put me closer to 5'8" (1,80 m), which I wouldn't mind being all the time :-)

  10. "I still am convinced that the expensive brands have their stuff produced at the same factories and sweat shops, just with more profit for themselves on each piece." On the whole I agree with that statement Meike. It doesn't only apply to clothes either: many furnishing such as curtains fall into the same category.

    1. True, Graham. Shoes, I think, are often produced in China. I often wonder what would happen to those who work at the factories if people from richer countries would really stop buying cheap clothes. If the factories were closing down, what would they do then? Return to the farming villages many of them come from? To a better life...?

  11. I really love these "trousers" on you Meike, and the "jumper" suits you very well too! /me snickers. S. Miss you! ;) /me sighs
