Last weekend, I was at O.K.'s again. When I arrived around lunchtime on Saturday, the sun was still struggling to burn off the fog that had been covering the village in the valley and the surrounding area all morning. But by the time we were ready to go out, we had the most wonderful weather and soft mellow golden October sun to enjoy.
Come along for our walk, if you like!
You can tell, from the last picture especially, that we walked until dusk. I couldn't get enough of the colours, but had not brought my camera this weekend. Good job O.K.'s mobile phone makes such good pictures! I have his permission to use his photos; they are much better than what my little old camera could have produced anyway.
The next morning, Sunday, we went running, partly on the same route as the Saturday walk. It was a completely different atmosphere - so foggy you could hardly see through the trees in the woods, and the vineyards and orchards were all mysteriously shrouded in grey light. It was just as enjoyable as the walk in the sun, though; the two opposite ends of autumn light, and I loved it.
By the way, some of the pictures are taken from nearly exactly the same spots as the ones in this post from March, so if you like, you can compare what this beautiful part of the country looks like in different seasons.
The autumn colours this year are absolutely stunning and make for scenes which overwhelm my little brain. I have always loved autumn and the photos you have shown depict my idea of a heaven.
ReplyDeleteI have always loved autumn, too, although it leads to winter which is my least favourite season. But this year really seems to be even more gorgeous, colour-wise.
DeleteBeautiful; really lovely. The leaves in photo No 5 are astonishing.
ReplyDeleteThey are, aren't they! O.K.'s mobile has a really good camera to bring out all the detail.
DeleteNothing is as lovely as the countryside in autumn - I recall my childhood years in England going to hunt for fallen 'conkers' under the chestnut trees, and gathering beech nuts, all whilst kicking up the piles of gold and orange leaves. Blustery days were my favorite, watching showers of leaves fall all around the fields near our home.
ReplyDeleteGermany has lovely countryside - I was totally blown away by it when we did the river trip in May 2015 - would love to return some year in autumn and see it all again in different colors. These photos are beautiful.
Glad you enjoyed your river trip through Germany, Mary.
DeleteMy Mum always looks for conkers, too - she likes using them as seasonal decoration on the table.
When I walk along a leaf-covered path, I can't resist and have to kick up the piles, too.
Beautiful! So good that you were able to do this walk while autumn was still showing her glorious colors. I usually think that November 3rd is the day it changes around here, and it certainly was this year. Actually, we still have lots of color, but the temperatures are so frigid! And in two days we lose our daylight savings time....
ReplyDeleteClocks went back from summer to winter time here last Sunday, so it gets dark really early here now.
DeleteAnd the night before last, we've had the first night frost. Brrr!
Beautiful walk. The next to last photo is my favorite, the lighting is just perfect! Is that photo of a vineyard?
ReplyDeleteGlad that OK lets you use the photos from his phone!
Yes, it's a vineyard. They are so beautiful this time of the year! Different types of vines show completely different colours, ranging from bright yellow to deep dark red.
DeleteThat red leaf with the pattern is amazing. And again, what a beautiful country you live in.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Nan, I think the same!
DeleteLovely autumn colours... Not much left of those here now, after the last few days of alternating heavy rain and SNOW!
ReplyDeleteIt is certainly cold enough here now for snow, at least during the night, but so far we've not seen any - unlike you!
DeleteLovely photos indeed. I am a confirmed lover of Spring but I must say that autumn colours are almost worth the upcoming winter cold.
ReplyDeleteSame here, Jenny! I am glad that I live in a country with different seasons.
